March 2019 Austin Real Estate Market Update

Austin’s economy is continuing to thrive and remains one of the best places to work and live in the U.S. The median sales price for homes in the Austin-Round Rock area has remained relatively level year-over-year only increasing by .8%. The listing inventory has only increased by 8.4%. These numbers combined with the influx of new residents means Austin’s greater metro area is still in an inventory crisis. The 3,890 new homes to enter the real estate market last month won’t last long with an average number of days on the market at 64. The number of homes sold in March 2019 was 2,740 compared to 2018’s 2,689, a 1.9% increase.
