Social media is being used more and more and by a wide range of users, making it a possible tool for HOAs use to engage with current, past, and future residents.   • Easy form of communication – Social media is a fast and easy way to communicate with people. Residents, businesses, and people interested in the community can reach out with questions, and it makes it easy to get back to people. You can also share important information from other social media pages dedicated to informing people in the neighborhood on top of creating your own content.
  • Gather feedback – Social media is a great place to host polls and get important feedback on items your HOA is considering and even when to host an HOA meeting in order to get the most attendance from residents. Surveys before social media had a low chance of being completed, but now, it’s easier than ever for your residents to be able to share their thoughts with the HOA board via social channels.
  • Little to no cost – Unlike the fees to set up a website and make it user friendly, social channels can be started for no cost. The only time you may run into fees is if you decide to do advertisements and boost your social posts.

Best practices for your HOAs social media pages:

  • Have objectives and guidelines for the page – Put down some rules and regulations for how people should interact with the social media page, so people know what they should and should not post and comment. Define the goals of the page and what the HOA is hoping to accomplish by having the page.
  • Stick to posting facts – Avoid quarrels with residents, by sticking to posting information on upcoming events and meetings, new rules, new board members, community highlights, etc.
