What are the responsibilities of the HOA?  While each association’s duties may vary, all communities should resemble the following HOA Board responsibilities:

Maintenance

The HOA is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of common areas. They are responsible for repairing damages and ensuring that systems are in working order.

HOA Board Responsibilities:

Finances

The HOA is responsible for collecting dues from community members and following up with members if they get behind on their dues.  Their role goes beyond that as well.

HOA Board Responsibilities:

Rules

The HOA creates the Covenants Conditions & Rules (CC&R) to ensure the community remains safe and maintains a high property value. Regulations vary from community to community, but all HOA members are expected to follow the rules.

HOA Board Responsibilities:

Meetings & Communication

Regular meetings are essential to keep an association moving forward.  The number of times the HOA Board is required to meet will be in the association by-laws. In addition to following the regulations, the Board can decide to hold more frequent meetings if they feel it is necessary.

HOA Board Responsibilities

An HOA exists to maintain the community on its residents’ behalf and ensure they have positive experiences and a safe environment.

Managing a community can seem daunting, but with a strategy and a plan for the future, the HOA Board can create a sustainable and welcoming community that everyone will love to call home.
