Spring is right around the corner, so you should start thinking about your spring maintenance checklist if you haven’t already. With the change in season comes tasks that should be added to your list, so you’re ready to spring into spring!
Landscaping
When you think of spring, you think of flowers. Consider planting new flowers around the neighborhood to bring in some pops of color. Collecting fallen branches, trimming shrubs, and removing weeds also help make the neighborhood look cleaner.
Power Washing
You want your HOA to be represented in the best light and look its best. So look at buildings, sidewalks, sports courts, etc. – they’re probably due for a good power washing. You also might notice cracks in the community’s roads due to salt from the winter snow plows, so consider having the roads cleaned.
Check Water Systems
Make sure there are no leaves or sticks blocking drains or sidewalks. Drains can easily get clogged and cause further damage. Also, if you have a pool, make sure the water is clean, filters are changed, and debris or trash is removed. Residents will most likely want to start swimming when the warm weather comes.
Clean Up Playgrounds & Common Areas
It’s likely that exterior areas haven’t been cleaned since before winter, so it would be a good idea to check these out and make sure they’re clean. In addition, if you have an outdoor common area, make sure benches and tables are clean and lighting and fixtures aren’t broken or out of use.
Address Miscellaneous Projects
Chances are you have a list of projects you’ve put off throughout the winter, so now is the time to knock those off your list! Think about things like having smoke and carbon monoxide alarms tested, playground equipment tested, or painting items chipped from winter storms.
